Welcome to Mrs. Peterson's Page!

I am currently teaching English 9, 11, and 12 at MCHS. These classes are being taught in a self contained setting. I have been teaching for 21 years.

English 9 Syllabus

Course Objectives:
Reinforce grammar skills
Improve writing skills for academics and real-life
Expand vocabulary
Improve reading through short stories and novels

Course Content:
Exploring  Literature—short stories, poetry, essays
Novels
             Hatchet
             The Outsiders

Read 180


Daily Language Review—grammar and revision work
Journal writing
Daily Vocabulary Skills
       
Materials:
Paper
Pencil/Pen
Good Attitude

Grades:
Total Points System
Tests are based on 100 points
Daily assignments are based on the number of answers
Daily Assignments are 85%
Final Exam is 15%

Tardy Policy:
1st/2nd tardy—Warning
3rd tardy—15-minute detention before or after school
4thtardy—30-minute detention before or after school
 5th tardy and beyond—Referral to Administration

Extra Credit:
I will give extra credit from time to time. However, no credit will be given if it is turned in late.
Expectations:
Arrive to class on time
Bring all necessary materials to class (pencil, pen, paper, handbook)
Respect classmates, teachers, and yourself with words and actions
Use appropriate language at all times (appropriate to MY standards)
No food or drink in class
