Bienvenidos / Welcome
Welcome to a new school year. My name is Diane Lincoln and I teach Spanish 1, 2, and 3. This is my 7th year teaching at MCHS, and 13th overall. Before MCHS, I taught at Newark High School for 1 year, Glenbard East & North High Schools for 5 years, and took a few years off with my children, Katie & Mark. I love being back in the classroom, and I have loved Spanish ever since I was a freshman here at MCHS. I look forward to passing that love on to your student. We will have a great year together. If that ever isn't the case for your student, please contact me! My e-mail is: dlincoln@morrishs.org. That is the quickest way to find me. Please feel free to call at anytime as well.
I have a few links on this page that your student will be using this year. Please take a look at the links to Classzone.com, Quizlet.com, and Conjuguemos.com. These are very helpful study tools that will assist your student with the acquisition of new vocabulary. Each site has its own particular strengths. I love Quizlet for the variety of activities, and it is exactly our classroom vocabulary. Quizlet.com offers practice quizzes, games, drills, pronunciation help, etc. Classzone.com is our textbook's website and offers flashcards with pronunciation help. This is especially good for new learners, or anyone who wants to work on their accent...always a good idea!
Conjuguemos.com is a site that we will use for homework. We will have on-line assignments of vocabulary drills on this site. If computer access is a problem, the library at school is available from 7:00 - 4:00 every day. If you ever hear from your student that they have an on-line assignment due, and they just couldn't get to a computer, so that is why they have a zero or low grade...it probably isn't true. I allow approximately 8-10 days for our on-line assignments. I always allow several days for on-line assignments because I know we can't all spend every minute on Spanish, as much as I wish that were so. :-) Also, small doses of Spanish, spread out over several days, is a great way to increase retention.
Thank you for encouraging your student in their study of Spanish. I feel that it is an important skill that can help them in their future careers. Again, please contact me anytime you have a question or concern.
